Land Search

SES volunteers assist SA Police in conducting land searches for missing people in all types of terrain in both rural and urban areas.

Search teams usually consist of 6 - 8 members who work under the direction of a Land Search Team Leader. Volunteers also assist SA Police at crime scenes or when searching for evidence when needed.

Volunteers are trained in First Aid, Radio Communications, Map Reading and Navigation and search techniques for use during the day and at night.

Depending on the area to be searched, teams work in conjunction with the search dogs, bike teams, horses, motorbikes and quad bikes.

Searching is considered to be one of the Service's primary roles therefore all Units within the State provide search training and opportunities. A reasonable level of fitness is required to undertake Land Search Operations.

If you would like to find  out more about becoming a volunteer please phone 13 00 364 587 during office hours or fill in the online form.
