Unit Managers' Forum

The annual SES Unit Managers’ Conference was held on the weekend of 20-21 October this year at Sunset Cove Resort with the theme ‘Operations Matter – and so do you’.

Based on feedback received from last year’s Conference, the program was designed around Unit Managers’ issues with much of the time devoted to questions and answers between the Unit Managers and SES Executive.

There were no special speakers or facilitators and it was focused around a smaller and more intimate group of people, hence the decision to change the name to Unit Managers’ Forum.  There was also a trade show with various companies providing exhibitions and demonstrations during the Forum.

The Forum was a great success and was well attended with excellent feedback received from all involved.

Metro South Unit serving the community

In addition to the great work that our volunteers do for people during a storm or flood many units are asked to come and address community groups and schools regarding storm safety etc. Pictured below are some of our vollies at one of the local schools.

Thank You Cards and Messages to our Units

Our volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year and many of them have full-time jobs and family responsibilities. So it is always appreciated when a member of the public takes the time to write to them and thank them for their assistance.

The weekend of 27th and 28th October was one of those weekends that most of our crews were busy. A grateful family fromTwo Wells sent a card to headquarters to thank the crew from our Northern Districts Unit who went to help them on the Saturday night. Well done guys! Eastern Suburbs Unit have also received a thank you card from a grateful resident whose property was damaged during the storm.

An animal rescue by the Western Adelaide Unit prompted a beautiful thank you card - made with love by the grandchildren of the bird's keeper.

Thanks to Northern Districts.
