SASES Regional Boundary Realignment

Effective Monday 6th August 2007, SASES Regional boundaries will be realigned to conform with the Government’s Boundary Reform mandate.

The initial implementation target for Regional boundary realignment was 1 July 2007, however prior to implementing change SES Executive committed to rigorous consultation with affected Units and the development of an implementation strategy to ensure a smooth transition; both processes have now been completed.

There are three key boundary changes occurring in this realignment:

  • Effective 6 August 2007, Kangaroo Island, Meningie, Murray Bridge, South Coast, Strathalbyn and Yankalilla Units will transition from Central Region to East Region. Day to day administration, training development and incident management for these Units will be the responsibility of the East Region Commander and staff.

For ease of coordination the East Region Units fall into three geographic areas: Riverland – East Region and old Riverland Division South East – East Region and old South East Division Fleurieu – Central Region and old Murray Division

  • Gawler and Mallala Local Government areas will be confirmed as part of the Central Region. Initial realignment plans proposed transition of the Kapunda Unit and the Local Government areas of Barossa and Light from North Region to Central Region, however following consultation it was decided to leave these unchanged (North Region).
  • As part of Government Boundary Reform the North West Pastoral District, which includes the APY Lands, will transition from North Region to West Region. SES has decided to delay change until the position of other agencies is clear. One Unit will be affected by any change, Mintabie, however it is most likely that in any event Mintabie will continue to be administered by North Region.

Please address further requests for information to the relevant Regional Commander.
